The kitchen
is the center of my home. We have a
small kitchen but that does not stop everyone from trying to sneak a taste when
nobody is looking or even how our kitchen becomes the dance floor during one of
our family parties. Growing up in an Irish/Italian family, it always meant that
we were cooking something. Whether it
was a simple meal or it was my Great-Grandmother's Red Sauce and Meatballs, it
was always something delicious.
Now, you
are probably wondering where the name of this blog came from and I am happy to
share that with you. My professor was
giving me suggestions for the name of my future bakery and she just said,
"Call it 'Bite Me'." My face
lit up and I knew it was a great idea because 'bite me' is what my family has
said for my whole life. With the
suggestion from my professor and the family's usage of the word, it was
destined to be.
On this blog,
you will find a little bit of everything, or as my Gramma said, "freeshka-shkan-jeeshka",
that I have tried and have loved with my review and what we would change. Most of the dishes are my Great-Grandmother's
and we have added our own twists to them.
The others, however, are ones that my sister and I have found to be some
of our favorites.
Cooking has
always been a huge part of my life and I wanted to share some of my family recipes,
as well as those that I found along the way.
Memories, both good and bad, can be triggered by a smell or even the
taste of a certain food. This blog is
dedicated to the recipes that have been handed down for generations, and to
those that my family has tried and we have loved. Feedback, questions, and even suggestions are
always welcome and are also appreciated.
May your next bite always be the best. From my kitchen to
yours,
Olivia
